A Little Twist ~
How does your garden grow?

A garden is a great teaching tool. As pagans we want to emphasize the seasons, the cycle of life and the wheel of the year. What better way than with a loverly garden?

This years garden: mint, lavender, calendula

We have a standard city lot and manage to grow an amazing number of plants in our garden. D loves being able to walk though the leaves and stalks and point out what is what... especially if it's edible.

Some really great plants to grow with kids are:

Calendula:
Also called pot marigold, has great healing properties and is quite gentle, the flowers are lovely and bright reseed year after year.

Chamomile:
Gentle and soothing, lovely little daisy like flowers

Lavender:
Calming and relaxing *more and more people are discovering that they are allergic to this herb so please be very careful

Sunflowers:
Big happy flowers, birds love the seeds so can be slightly messy.

Pumpkins (any sort of squash really):
They may take up a load of room but they grow quickly... and what witch wouldn't want to grow her own pumpkins?

Peas and Beans:
Yummy and grows rather quickly, which is good for impatient little ones

Mint:
Takes a beating, grows like mad and smells lovely
