A Little Twist ~
Dealing With Monsters

The Littlest Knickertwist started his magickal training when he began to notice monsters in his bedroom. Monsters, although usually quite harmless, are nonetheless very scary … especially to a wee fellow of three.

And so, the little master was given a wand of willow, made by his father Mr. Knickertwist. The wand sits by his bed as he sleeps and when ever he senses that a monster is nearing he grabs his wand, points it at the offending creature and says in a loud stern voice, “Magick wand, GO AWAY!” We have explained to the young master that his room belongs to him and that no unearthly beings may stay if he commands them to leave.

In our trials we have found that there are several ways to manage a monster problem. You see, as frightening as they may be, monsters have fears too. One of the things that monsters hate most is books. A room with loads of books, better yet a shelf full of books, will certainly deter many monstrous creatures. Monsters also dislike farts, especially noisy ones. A effective way to make a monster leave a room is to make a loud farting noise. Upon hearing the noise the monster will become frightened and vacate the room as quickly as possible. Being a witch is also helpful because as a general rule, monsters are quite fearful of magickal people. All monsters are afraid of mum's, they are terrified of witchy mum's.

For monsters who are especially cheeky you may want to consider creating a monster repellent. Here is a simple recipe that you can brew yourself.

“Good Riddance Monster Repellent”

4 oz distilled water
7 drops each grapefruit and lavender ess. oils
3 drops each of pettigrain and ylang ylang
ess. oils
1 holly leaf
a mister or other ‘squirt’ type bottle

Simply put all of the ingredients in the mister and shake vigorously.
As you shake say the following incantation …

“As I shake and as I mix,
I concoct an anti-monster mist.
So beware monsters, run away,
or else I shall be forced to spray!"

Spray the mist in places that you are sure you have seen monsters, or suspect they may choose as a hiding place. When all else fails you can spray it directly on the the offending creatures and watch as they disappear in a "poof".

Note: You could use lavender oil on it's own if you're in a pinch but this particular combination of oils is believed to help boost confidence.

Note: If you want a longer lasting version of this recipe use 1 oz of alcohol (vodka works well) and three oz of distilled water. This will extend the shelf life much longer ... but be wary of leaving the bottle with your little master.

Note: For children who are waking with night terrors some parents have found that simply removing the child's socks at night can help.

Note: Essential oils and plastic do not mix. Do not store your blend in a plastic container.
