A Quick Guide to Using Colour in Your Magic Making
Here are a few colours and their meanings/symbolism. Use this guide however you see fit ... whether it be the colour of a charm bag or robe to your choice of candle. Can't find an orange alter cloth? You can almost always use white as a substitute. I would suggest that you discover what meanings the colours hold for you. Spell crafting and magic become much more meaningful (and successful) when you put your own thoughts and feelings into it.
WHITE
- purity, truth, sincerity, dispelling evil, psychic matters and new beginnings
- associated with Monday, Sunday and the signs Pisces and Aries
RED
- strength, health, vigor, sexual love, lust, passion, power and attracting good luck
- associated with Tuesday and the signs Taurus, Gemini, Leo and Capricorn
PINK
- honour, love, morality, reconciliation, friendship and harmony
- associated with Friday
ORANGE
- encouragement, adaptability, stimulation, attraction, joy, optimism, the will to succeed
- associated with Sunday and Tuesday
BLUE
Light - tranquility, understanding, patience, health, idealism, protection
Dark - impulsiveness, depression, changeability
- associated with Thursday and the sign Aquarius
GREEN
- finance, fertility, luck, rest, calming, prosperity
- associated with Friday and the sign Cancer
GOLD/YELLOW
- attraction, persuasion, charm, confidence, stimulates the mind, achievement and learning, wealth and longevity, sickness, cowardice, jealousy
- it is said that guest rooms should be painted yellow as it eventually causes a subtle uncomfortable feeling ensuring that visitors will not over stay their welcome,

BROWN
- protection, natural wisdom, affinity with nature, neutrality, hesitation and uncertainty

BLACK
- evil, loss, confusion, retribution, communing with the dead, endings but also the seeds of a new beginning ... I would say black has more to with banishing, taking control, and being introspective

PURPLE
- spiritual strength, linked with higher planes, ambition, tension, business progress, power, royalty
