Witchery ~Divination Slips

It is really quite remarkable the number of ways in which one can attempt to fortell the future. I have tried my hand at palm reading (which I am terrible at!) and tea reading (which I adore) and many other techniques ... all of them have their merrits. Here is a fun and simple way that you can attempt to see what lies in store without having to learn a whole new skill.

While thumbbing through a children's "wizarding" book I came across several entries for invisable ink. It was the simplest item that drew my attention - Lemon juice. Ping! I had a brilliant idea.

I immediately grabbed a lemon, paper and a calligraphy pen. I cut the paper into small peices (approximately 1" x 3"). Next I squeezed the lemon juice into a bowl and used it as I would ink with the calligraphy pen. You could use a paintbrush or toothpick - whatever you have on hand. I wrote things such as: No, Yes, Perhaps, As You Wish, Never, Probably, Maybe ... all possible answers to simple yes/no questions.

After the lemon juice "ink" dried I chose a slip of paper and asked my first question ...
"Is my name Nichola Battilana?"
I held the paper over a candle flame and slowly the word "Yes" appeared! Success!

This is a really neat thing to do and it seems to last for quite a while. The trick is to hold the paper quite far away from the flame because it will VERY EASILY catch fire. Be patient ... the words will appear. If you aren't too sure about using an open flame you might want to try a hot iron over the paper. If you are using a candle or flame please be safe and keep a fireproof container or dish of water near by so that any slips that do catch fire can be quickly and safely disposed of.
