SOAPWORT

Also known as Bouncing Bet, Soap Root, Latherwort, Fuller's Herb, Bruisewort, Crow Soap, Sweet Betty, Wild Sweet William

Crushed leaves and roots of soapwort have been used to make soaps and shampoo for centuries. It is said that some museums use soapwort soap for cleansing the most delicate items.

Soapwort was used magically with other items to ritually bathe and cleanse those believed affected my witchcraft and afflicted with nightmares.

It seems to me that soapwort would be ideal for magical cleansing and purification. Personally, I believe that in order to properly magically cleanse a space, you need physically cleanse as well. You could incorporate soapworts natural cleansing properties into a magical floor wash or bath... perhaps use it to gently clean your magical tools, altar cloth or sacred space.

Another thought would be to use the healing and soothing properties of soapwort in beauty or healing magic. If you decide to make some magical shampoo using soapwort take care not to get it into your eyes, it may irritate them.
